Smart Shox Reflash

Unlock better comfort, control, and handling from your Ski-Doo KYB Smart-Shox suspension.

Developed by Accelerated Technologies in partnership with Precision EFI, this suspension ECU flash corrects the factory damping imbalance and makes Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ genuinely useful riding modes.

Choose the proven Stage 1 corrective calibration or step up to the advanced Stage 2 calibration, which uses more of the Smart-Shox system’s active damping capabilities.

Stage 1 — Corrective Calibration

The factory Smart-Shox calibration has a wide gap between modes. Comfort is often too soft, Sport provides only a small increase in support, and Sport+ can be excessively firm for normal trail riding.

Stage 1 corrects these issues by rebalancing compression and rebound damping across all three modes.

Comfort Mode

Factory Comfort Mode lacks compression support, allowing the front and rear suspension to move through their travel too quickly.

Stage 1 increases damping support to hold the sled higher in its travel, reduce excessive chassis movement, and improve bottoming resistance. Rebound damping is also revised to reduce bouncing and help the suspension maintain contact with the trail.

Sport Mode

The factory Sport calibration is only slightly firmer than Comfort.

Stage 1 creates a more noticeable step between the two settings, increasing ski-shock compression damping by approximately 30% and rear-shock compression damping by approximately 20%. The result is improved cornering stability, better chassis control, and a more balanced feel between the front and rear suspension.

Sport+ Mode

Factory Sport+ adds a substantial amount of compression damping but can feel overly firm and unbalanced in trail conditions.

Stage 1 reshapes the damping curve to improve comfort and grip over smaller bumps while maintaining support for larger impacts and aggressive riding. Rear rebound is also corrected to help the suspension recover properly through repeated bumps.

Stage 1 is an excellent choice for riders who want to correct the primary weaknesses of the factory calibration and make all three Smart-Shox modes more usable.

Stage 2 — Advanced Active-Damping Calibration

Stage 2 includes the foundational corrections of Stage 1 but takes the calibration considerably further.

Developed using two additional years of shock-dyno testing, trail evaluation, rider feedback, and onboard data logging, Stage 2 recalibrates the base damping curves along with the advanced auxiliary maps inside the Smart-Shox suspension module.

These maps actively adjust damping based on suspension position, acceleration, braking, steering input, and riding conditions. Refining them allows Stage 2 to improve comfort and performance at the same time.

More Usable Rear-Suspension Travel

The factory rear suspension can move easily through the beginning of its travel before becoming abruptly firm near the middle of the stroke. This can make the rider feel compressed into the seat and then pushed back out, even when the suspension does not bottom.

Stage 2 revises the base damping, shock-position damping, and acceleration-related maps to eliminate this mid-stroke wall. This allows the R-Motion X rear suspension to use more of its available travel for better comfort, bump absorption, and control.

Progressive Ski-Shock Control

Stage 2 progressively adjusts rebound damping to better match spring force throughout the suspension stroke.

Rebound control increases when the suspension is deeper in its travel and the spring is pushing harder. As the spring relaxes, rebound damping gradually decreases. This creates more consistent ski pressure for improved carbide grip, steering confidence, and predictability.

Improved Acceleration, Braking, and Cornering Control

The Smart-Shox system uses auxiliary maps to alter damping during acceleration, braking, and cornering.

Stage 2 refines the acceleration and anti-squat functions to maintain chassis control without unnecessarily restricting rear-suspension movement. Braking-related damping is also revised to manage forward pitch during corner entry.

In Sport and Sport+, the system progressively adds damping to the outside ski as steering angle increases. Stage 2 optimizes this function to reduce body roll and keep the sled flatter when cornering aggressively.

Stage 2 Riding Modes

Comfort: Supportive and compliant, with increased active travel for improved comfort and bump absorption.

Sport: Approximately 10% stronger than Comfort, providing greater chassis control while maintaining trail compliance and traction.

Sport+: Approximately 10% stronger than Sport, with enhanced steering-angle, acceleration, braking, and position-sensitive damping for aggressive riding.

Each mode provides a predictable step up in firmness while keeping the front and rear suspension properly balanced.

Already Have Stage 1?

Existing Stage 1 customers can upgrade their KYB suspension module to the complete Stage 2 calibration for $150 USD.

Select the "Upgrade from Stage 1" option when ordering. Your suspension module must be returned so the new Stage 2 calibration can be installed.

Recommended Suspension Components

Both flashes work with the factory suspension, and no additional hardware is required.

For the best results, Accelerated Technologies recommends properly selected rear torsion springs based on rider weight and application. A rear-shock compression adjuster and dual-rate ski-shock springs can provide additional tuning and improve overall suspension balance, but they are optional.

How to Get Your Smart-Shox Flash

The KYB Smart-Shox suspension module must be flashed. You can bring your snowmobile to us or remove and ship the suspension module.

Choose Stage 1 to correct the factory calibration—or upgrade to Stage 2 to take full advantage of the advanced active-damping capabilities already built into your Ski-Doo Smart-Shox system.
